  • 5 Harsh Money Truths

Money can feel messy. These five rules keep things calm, clear, and moving in the right direction. They’re short on drama and big on results.

Secure your finances before your relationships

Love does better without money stress. Build a small emergency fund and clear high-interest debt first, so you’re not mixing crisis with commitment.

    Quick actions

    • Save your first £500–£1,000 for true emergencies.
    • Pay extra on any debt over 20% APR before anything fancy.
    • Keep your own essentials funded (rent, food, transport) before committing to any plans.

    Start saying NO—no explanation needed

Every “no” protects your plan. You don’t owe anyone a speech. “Not in my budget this week” is enough.

    Quick actions

    • Write a one-line script in your notes and use it.
    • Set a weekly “Fun” limit and stop at zero.
    • Mute creators or friends who trigger impulse buys.

    Carry cash when possible

Spending real notes hurts in a useful way. That little pinch keeps you honest compared to tap-to-pay.

    Quick actions

    • Make a cash envelope for treats each week.
    • When it’s empty, you’re done—no rollovers.
    • Keep receipts and total them at home in 60 seconds.

Move back home to save on rent (if you can)

It’s not “moving backwards.” It’s a money bootcamp. Make it temporary, set a deadline, and stack cash on purpose.

    Quick actions

    • Agree a time limit (e.g., 6–12 months) and house rules.
    • Auto-transfer the “rent you’re not paying” into savings the day you’re paid.
    • Track progress monthly so you can move out with confidence.

Never borrow for lifestyle—it costs double

Financing wants turns “nice to have” into “expensive regret.” Interest eats future you.

    Quick actions

    • Use credit for needs or true emergencies only.
    • Make a 30-day list: if you still want it in a month, pay cash.
    • If you already financed a want, overpay to clear it faster.

How to put this into a one-week plan

    • Pick one rule to focus on.
    • Set one number (e.g., £60 cash for Fun).
    • Do one action (e.g., open a savings space and move £50 today).
    • Review next Sunday: keep, tweak, or swap the rule.

Remember: small moves, done weekly, beat perfect plans you never follow.

Introducing Luna: Calm Money, No Spreadsheets

Luna is designed to help you keep on top of your personal finances without needing a finance degree. We’re going to build the best budgeting app for simple, clear budget tracking with a free tier that is actually better than what most existing paid budgeting apps provide.

    Mockup, not a final represenation

Money feels noisy. We’re going to make it quiet.

We totally get it! The daily grind of juggling banking apps, broken budgets, and confusing money rules is exhausting. That’s why our philosophy is simple: clarity over complexity, guidance over guilt

With Luna, we will build a smarter budgeting app with straightforward budget tracking and a calm finance tracker that actually helps.

What “calm money” means at Luna

We promise fewer complex decisions and better defaults meaning that you spend less time thinking “is this the right category” and more improving your finances.

We will give you gentle nudges, not alarm bells. We won’t scream in your face when you spent £1 over your budget.

Privacy baked in. That’s right! Nobody will be able to see your financial data at Luna. We are designing with privacy in mind, meaning you can budget those guilty expenses without judgement.

    Early feature set

You can provide your existing bank accounts in one view! Our intelligent systems will take the data you provide us and ease those into useful categories. You will also be able to attach documents to each transaction such as digital copy of receipts.

You will also be able to edit the default categories we provide or add more. Our categories will also be in plain non-complex language. Complex categories such as “Financial Accountancy Services” become “Money Services.”

We will design Luna around the Three F’s: Fundemental, Fun & Future. What this means for you is that every transaction will be categorised into the above and assigned an appropriate category by Luna.

    Who Luna is for

Luna is designed for everyone. You will not need to be financially literate to understand Luna.

We’ve kept in mind the following people:

    • People who hate spreadsheets but want control
    • Weekly-paid workers who cannot worth with monthly budgets
    • Impulse spenders who want to control their spending

    Post-Launch Roadmap

Once Luna has been released, we will work on the following features:

    • Banking connections
    • Export options such as sharing your budget to a spreadsheet (such as sharing to an accountant)

    Pricing Model

We believe in a fair pricing model, one that keeps in mind the cost of living crisis that is affecting the poorest of society the most.

Luna will be free at launch and our core functionality will be included in the free tier.

Luna will offer a paid tier which will provide much more advanced tracking, automated banking connections (when available) and priority support. Our paid tier will be priced at £9.99/month, or £25.99/quarter (13% off), or £99.99/year (16% off).
